About Pushparaj Club

A neighbourhood club from Babur Bazar that grew into a registered NGO serving all of Unakoti district.

Our story

Pushparaj Club began in 1972, when young people in Babur Bazar, Kailashahar, came together to help their neighbours. In 1989 the club was registered as a society, and over the years it took on more of the area's needs: children's education and safety, health, the welfare of women and the elderly, and the environment.

Much of our work reaches families in tea-garden settlements and tribal (ADC) villages, who are often the last to receive support. We work closely with government departments and partner organisations so that people get the services they are entitled to.

Since 2000 we have planted trees at every occasion we mark. It has become the habit we are best known for.

What we believe

Lasting change starts with the community itself. Our volunteers live in the same villages they serve, so they notice problems early and stay for the long haul.

We try to be useful rather than visible: we connect people to schemes, helplines and departments that already exist, and fill the gaps where nothing exists yet.
